The Girl Scout Research Institute has conducted several studies on what girls say about the issues facing them every day.

Girl Scouts of Ohio's Heartland is the expert on girls in our jurisdiction. As the preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls, our outcomes measurement surveys help us determine the effectiveness of our programs, and target them to the areas most in need.

Information has been compiled on how our Girl Scout journeys series support state and national curriculum standards. Learn more about this benefit of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience here.

In 2010, with funding from the Columbus Foundation, Nationwide Insurance, and Cardinal Health, The Women’s Fund of Central Ohio awarded to the One Girl Collaborative Partners an initial investment in the development of a holistic approach to helping girls reach their full potential.

Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland worked with the Interprofessional Commission of Ohio, the Mentoring Center of Central Ohio, Ruling Our eXperiences, and the YWCA of Columbus to design a research project that gathered information on the daily issues girls face and what concerns them most. We wanted to know what are the things girls struggle with and who do they want to talk to about their struggles?

Working together, the partners produced a research report titled One Girl: A Snapshot of Girls in Central Ohio. You can access the full report or the executive summary and learn first hand from central Ohio girls what is really going on in their lives.
