Camp Molly Lauman (Scioto County)

Camp Molly Lauman is located near Lucasville, in Scioto County, OH (about 1 1/2 hours south of Columbus).  The camp is situated on 170 acres in the rolling foothills of Appalachia, and is mostly wooded.  Bear Creek runs through the front edge of the property, and access to Big Bear Lake canoe launch is right next door at LakeView Ranch.

Resident Camp

Camp Molly Lauman offers several sessions of resident camp each summer.  Typical sessions are 5 1/2 days, and options are available for girls who have completed grades 2-12, regardless of whether or not they are a current member of Girl Scouts.  Registration usually begins in February.  For information on our resident camp program, please visit our Resident Camp page.  Look for the 2012 Camp Guide, describing our summer opportunities, to come out this winter!

LakeView Ranch Horseback Riding

LakeView Ranch is a CHA accredited horseback-riding facility, owned and operated by Girl Scouts of Ohio's Heartland Council, and located in Scioto County (adjacent to Camp Molly Lauman).  Girl Scout program descriptions and fees can be found in myGSOH

During the summer months, LakeView Ranch primarily serves resident campers.  Coming in summer 2012, LakeView Ranch will also offer a Horseback Riding Day Camp.  Weekday riding lesson are also available during the school year, following the Certified Horsemanship Riding levels.

Supervision of girls

LakeView Ranch will provide a minimum of two trained horseback instructors for all horseback riding activities. Each troop/group coming to the Ranch must be accompanied by a minimum of two supervising adults. Juliettes or girls coming as individuals must be accompanied by one supervising adult.  The LVR staff supervises the girls only during the horseback riding classes. Accompanying adults supervise the girls the rest of the time, including camping at the ranch.

Adults may ride as a participant in the program, and must pay the same fee as the girls and sign a Council Liability Waiver.  Maximum capacity is 220 pounds.

A 20-person unit is available at the ranch for troops attending a special overnight horseback-riding program such as "Bath and Body Works for the Horse." Overnight programs include the site fee for camping in the unit at the ranch. Participants sleep in non-heated four-person cabins with bunk beds and have a cooking shelter with stove, sink with running water, refrigerator, basic cooking equipment and picnic tables and have access to flush toilets and showers at the house. Overnight campers are responsible for their own food and meal preparation.
