Day Camp is an opportunity for girls to experience the
great outdoors in a 5-day camp session. Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland hosts day camps at locations throughout our council. Most Day Camp hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. During this time activities may include flag ceremonies, songs, games, hiking, crafts, camp fire cooking, and nature study. Trained Girl Scout adult volunteers facilitate the week long activities. For more information, including FAQs, please see About GSOH Day Camps.
Day Camp is available to all girls who have completed kindergarten and up (non-Girl Scouts may attend if they pay an extra fee to become registered members). Girls can register individually or with a buddy, but Day Camp is not a troop activity. There are also opportunities for teenage girls to complete leadership hours as a Day Camp PAL (Program Aide Link/Leader) or APL (Advanced Program Leader).
Choose a camp near you from the table below and download and review the session’s details. Online registration will be available on April 2, 2012 through CORA. If you prefer, you may complete a paper Registration Form and follow the instructions on the form to submit it to the Day Camp Registrar.
Registered Girl Scouts - look for the Camp Guide in your mailbox in early February, 2012!
Feeling creative? You can design the 2012 day camp patch! Download the day camp patch flier and submit your entry by March 5, 2012.
Can you spare 5 days this summer to make a difference in the lives of girls? We rely on dedicated volunteers to make camp happen. The number of girls who can be accepted for camp is limited by the number of adults who volunteer to help. Please consider volunteering at day camp!
What are the benefits?
• Training to prepare you to work with a group of girls in an outdoor setting.
• One fee waiver and guaranteed placement for a currently registered Girl Scout of your choice.
• Supervised on-site program for pre-schoolers (out of diapers and able to communicate needs) or boys at a nominal charge.
• An opportunity to make new friends and have fun while being a role model and making a difference in the lives of girls!
What are you waiting for?
Please sign-up by Friday, March 16, 2012 to aid us in planning individual camp sessions. To apply, you’ll need to complete the following:
- 2012 Adult Information Update. This is a fillable document that you can complete digitally, or you may print and mail it. Please be sure to indicate the session for which you wish to volunteer so your information will be forwarded to the appropriate camp director.
- *Volunteer Application for Service in Girl Scouting. If you know which Day Camp session you wish to volunteer for, please enter its name or session number in the “School” field.
- Online background check. The council is required to conduct a background check every three years on each Day Camp Adult Volunteer, as regulated by the State of Ohio. This can be done securely online. Please specify whether your background check is “new” or a “renewal.”
*If you have previously completed the Volunteer Application for Service in Girl Scouting and are an active volunteer, skip step #2.
