Girl Scouts of Ohio's Heartland Forever Green Centennial Celebration

On Friday, March 2, 2012, more than 500 guests joined Girl Scouts of Ohio's Heartland at an historic celebration of the Girl Scouts’ 100th anniversary. Held at the Archie M. Griffin Grand Ballroom in the Ohio Union of The Ohio State University in Columbus, this momentous event showcased what 50 million girls have enjoyed and accomplished over the past 100 years and what lies ahead for the organization. At the opening cocktail reception, guests mixed and mingled with other supporters of Girl Scouting, enjoyed delicious hors d'oeuvres, and viewed a sample display of historic Girl Scout uniforms from our archives.

During the exciting program, guests heard from our 100th anniversary honorary board members, WBNS-10TV anchor Angela An, and Girl Scout speakers about the impact Girl Scouts are making in the world right now. CEO Tammy H. Wharton revealed the Girl Scouts of the United States of America's ToGetHerThere initiative, a bold campaign to break down the barriers to female leadership in our society within a generation. The program was followed by a delicious dinner, and capped off by samples of outstanding desserts, made all the more delectable with a secret ingredient - Girl Scout cookies!

Our deepest appreciation goes to our sponsors, and friends of Girl Scouting who attended our Forever Green - Centennial Celebration. You made our celebration of 100 years of Girl Scouting complete!
