In 2012, the Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) marks a century of Girl Scouting! The Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland kicked off its celebration during the 11th annual Leaders for Tomorrow fundraising breakfast on Friday, December 2 at the Aladdin Shrine Center in Columbus.
Leaders for Tomorrow gave Central Ohioans the opportunity to learn more about the Girl Scouts' 100-year-old mission to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place, and hear the inspiring stories of girls and adult volunteers who are living out the mission every day.
In addition to girls and troop leaders, Susan Tomasky, immediate past president of AEP Transmission and chairwoman of the Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland 100th Anniversary Honorary Board, and Lauren Warren, a vice president at Limited Brands and president of the Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland Council Board of Directors, spoke during the event.
Contributions made during Leaders for Tomorrow will benefit the 30,000 girls and more than 9,000 registered adults and volunteers who participate in Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland Council programs each year!
Proceeds will support:
• Girl Scout programs
• Camping and other outdoor experiences at Girl Scout owned facilities
• Program development
• Adult education to meet the changing needs of girls
• Volunteer support services and
• Financial assistance to girls and adults who don’t have the means to participate in Girl Scouts
